This tip is applicable for people in India. Consumers can now just dial a common number irrespective of their service provider to deactivate value added services on their mobile.
If you are suffering from unwanted caller tunes, wrong GPRS packs activation or any other unwanted service then dial 155223 to deactivate it immediately.
Telecom companies have to refund the amount charged for such activation of service if consumer had informed about the service within 24 hours on this common number.
Subscribers who have been using any value added services beyond 24 hours can also request for deactivation of service on this number. Telecom operator will have to deactivate service within four hours of getting phone call but the customer will not be eligible to claim refund in such a case.
The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) and TRAI are working together to provide more user friendly services to consumers. As per the rule, operators will have to take consent of subscribers before activating any VAS and deactivate it without charging for it if no consent is received from them.
Hope the new common number will be helpful because many times we even doesn't know that is the complaint number to deactivate any useless service and sometimes we may unable to reach our customer care number.
